Hi there!
I spent most of my 20s in academic research, satisfying my thirst for knowledge and understanding of the histories, cultures, and societies of East Asia and South-east Asia. Insatiably curious, I also dappled in psychology, mental health, astrology, screenwriting, and fantasy fiction.
My intellectual pursuits culminated in a Ph.D. in Asian History at the Australian National University in 2020. But, what was supposed to be a culmination turned out to be an ending. I left academia because my heart was no longer in it, and my opportunities dwindled in the changing world.
I knew I had to find a new path, bringing along the skills I mastered.
My skill set:
I could do well in any places where I speak the local language, which means any English-, Mandarin- , and Vietnamese-speaking communities can be my nesting place, if I am welcomed.
What could I do with these skills? Writing and teaching jobs came as apparent answers, but once I settled into digital content writing, I knew I needed to tailor my niches. I do not want to just write for any industries; from where I live, the high payers are technology, insurance, and commercial law. If you think these are far from who I am, you are right.
I have left academia but academia has not left me. I wanted to join a worthwhile cause, to contribute to an urgent global need. Thus, I have found my way to sustainability.
I have been immersing myself in the green industries. I signed up for online courses; I followed the news; I took organized notes on the major actors: the companies, the NGOs, the people, the policies, programs, etc. I keep this website as a writing commitment to master this new field.
Meanwhile, I also train myself on web design, English language teaching, and hone my creative writing craft.
My burning question is: Can we can involve all global actors without downplaying how their cultures and histories have shaped their approaches and perspectives on taking global actions?
My goal is to become your go-to sustainability content creator to reach and engage multi-cultural audiences.
After all, we are still humans facing unprecedented global crises – together. I want to help you overcome the barriers in cross-cultural communication and outreach, to create an understanding environment where all participants are valued and committed to saving the only planet.
